Setup

IN THIS ARTICLE:

Select your primary dtSearch index, apply search term types for categorization, and view result counts. Initiate Categorization from the Setup page for Domain Analysis and Footer Analysis.

Categorization settings

Select the primary dtSearch index, search term report, and determine whether to break families.

Primary dtSearch index

Create a dtSearch index or select from the dropdown if enabled.

Note: Once a dtSearch index is selected, it cannot be renamed.

Search term types

Select search term types from the dropdown and click Apply to create the Search term report.

Relativity creates the Categorization saved search folder in the Documents tab. This folder includes the Privilege Corpus.

Privilege Specific in Header The presence of an attorney or firm in an email header makes a document VERY LIKELY to be privileged.
Privilege Specific in Body The presence of an attorney or firm in the body of an email makes a document somewhat LIKELY to be privileged.
Privilege Generic in Body The presence of a generic privilege term in the body of an email makes a document UNLIKELY to be privileged.

Search term report

Click on a search term name to add or modify terms, run reports and review the results.

PrivCATDocumentCategory

The PrivCATDocumentCategory field in Relativity displays the category a document is tagged with.

Ignore document category

Select a document to exclude from the corpus for Priv Categorization under the Documents tab in Relativity.

By default, all documents in the Privilege Corpus are included in the Priv Categorization process. Applying the Ignore Document Category tag prevents the document from being included in the process. The document will not receive a PrivCatDocumentCategory tag, nor will it be included in the Domain/Footer Analysis.

Break families

By default, privilege categorization applies to documents within families. Only select the Break families! option in special situations in which every document is to be treated as its own entity.

To change this setting, you must Reset Priv Categorization, permanently deleting all input data.

Reset Priv Categorization

To clear all Priv Categorization input data and restore default settings, click Reset Priv Categorization. Note that this action permanently deletes all domain/footer decisions, clears PrivCATDocumentCategory and PrivCAT Recurring Text tags, and removes batch sets.

  1. To preserve existing batches, change the batch set name first
  2. Click Reset Priv Categorization on the Setup page
  3. Click Yes, reset to defaults on the modal

Results

Categorization results appear at the top of the screen on every page. Hover over the bar to view the document count for each category.
